Full description

This beautiful, Japanese style vase was thrown on the wheel and when leather hard, coated with a thin, white slip. After the bisque firing, a layer of transparent ash glaze was added inside and out, and the piece fired to around 1280 degrees centigrade in a wood kiln.

The translucent slip allows the darker base clay to show through, and has created some subtle hues of off-white and light grey, while the inside looks rather like a polished, speckled granite. The piece is fully waterproof and can be used to display fresh flowers.

A simple piece but one with a great deal of charm and presence. Measures approx. 4.25 inches tall and just over 3.5 inches wide at the shoulder.

Mark Smalley's personal symbol has been impressed to the bottom edge of the pot.

Postage and packing will be at a fixed cost of £4.00.

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
