I love ceramics ... their feel, their texture, the sense of warmth and comfort that fills me every time I touch them ... I love the forms they can be shaped into ... the way they gently warm when used to hold food ....... and I absolutely adore my coffee out of one of my own handmade mugs ... a cake from a little ceramic plate ... mulled wine from my own goblets ... Full description
I enjoy throwing on the wheel as it gives me great control over the forms I produce. I like the shape of this bowl - especially viewed from the side - it kind of looks light as if floating above the surface on which it rests.
The glaze is unusual - reddish tones are hard to obtain in the kiln. The cerise centre is set off by the flecked white that covers both the rim and outside of the bowl.
When not in use, I love hanging shallow and flat ceramics on the wall. The footring on this bowl is pierced in two places through which a hanging wire can be fed.
Fired of stoneware clay this bowl is very strong. It is also food safe and dishwasher proof.

The bowl will arrive inside a sturdy box cushioned by plenty of bubble-wrap. If bought as a present, I will happily gift-wrap and send it direct complete with a note on your behalf. Just let me know during checkout.
