Item details

Large ivory pearl earrings on gold-filled ear wires. These hang approximately 3cm from the earlobe, and the pearls themselves are just under 1cm long.

Your jewellery will arrive, posted first class, in one of Hope&Grace's beautiful silver and black boxes. If you would like it gift-wrapped, and with a special message, please add a note to your order and I will be happy to do this at no extra charge .

Pearls - a symbol of power and femininity - have been very much in my mind lately as there is an exhibition of them at the Victoria & Albert Museum. These large-ish "rice" pearls are striking enough to look stunning with a little black dress, but simple enough to be worn during the day.

Whenever possible, I use "gold-filled" components in my jewellery (as you see here) rather than "gold-plated" ones as they are of higher quality, and much longer-lasting. "Gold-filled" (otherwise known as "rolled gold") consists of a layer of 14 carat gold bonded or "rolled" on to the core metal. The quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total component, and because the finished product has a surface layer of gold much thicker compared to gold plate, it should last a lifetime .
