A beautiful vase, hand thrown on the wheel and coated inside and out with a sumptuous, and very tactile, celadon glaze. It was fired to around 1260 degrees centigrade in a wood kiln. This piece has a satisfyingly robust and solid look about it; the walls were deliberately thrown fairly thickly but evenly, so it feels nicely balanced in the hands. The celadon glaze is a light bluey grey with dark flecks where the iron oxide in the clay body has bled through.
It stands approx. 4.5 inches tall and is approx. 3.5 inches across at its widest point. Mark Smalley's personal symbol has been impressed to the underside.
UK postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £4.20 for delivery by courier. An extra charge of £2.00 will be required for remote area postcodes IM, HS, ZE.
Designed by Mark Smalley in Congleton and sheffield
