This is the pattern only to make this very lovely patchwork blanket throw. This design was a personal challenge to see if I could make a knitted patchwork that was as lovely as the many fabric versions around. I made the sample from Rowan's brand new Soft Knit Cotton yarn and unless you want to make this design from your stash of oddments I can heartedly recommend this gorgeous yarn.

It is a fairly easy design that is suitable for someone with the basic knowledge of hand knitting and wants to make something a bit more involved. It does require lots of sewing up and an even tension when knitting.

I just love patchwork quilts, finding different patterns that complement one another and colours that create a mood is so easy when using fabric, but I wanted to make a knitted version that focused on texture as well as colour and this design is the result. The yarn that was selected gives a gorgeous rich drapey substantial feel that is sure to become an heirloom piece.
