Full description
A striking Raku bowl half blue half white which looks beautiful on its own and very pretty filled with biscuits, sweets and so on.
HOW IT'S MADE
I threw the bowl on the wheel, fired to 1000 degrees C before applying the glazes. I then fired it again to the same temperature and transferred it immediately to a drum of wood shavings which ignited. With the drum closed, the fire extracted oxygen from both the glaze and the clay. The intense thermal shock served to craze the glaze while smoke penetrated the clay body and enhanced the crackles. The Raku process which originates from Japan is always unpredictable as are the results! In this case the crazing is both very fine and even.
Not for hot food, neither oven nor dishwasher safe.

The bowl will arrive inside a sturdy box surrounded with plenty of bubble-wrap. If it is to be a present, I will happily gift-wrap and send it direct complete with a little card on your behalf. Just let me know during checkout.
