Beautiful cluster of four handmade pottery Butterfly Cups filled with recycled glass in deep sapphire blue
Approximate size in diameter, largest - 6 cm graduating down to smallest - 2.5 cm........2.5, 1 inches.
I roll different size balls of fine stoneware clay and 'pinch' out the clay to create a simple bowl shape that is then smoothed and tidied. I try to retain enough of the character by leaving slightly rustic edges yet still leaving the bowl smooth and tactile to touch. A sweet little butterfly is sculpted from fine clay and attached to the lip of each bowl. Placed as if the butterfly has just landed on the edge for a drink or a rest!
They are fired and glazed in simple white on the butterflies and the bowls are left unglazed to add texture and coloured with recycled glass in bright shimmering colours. These ones gorgeous sapphire blue! The glass looks fractured under the surface but is smooth to touch. Like cool liquid water!
I made these as purely decorative items but they can be used for placing small things in. Some customers have used the larger cups as salt and pepper pots!
They look stunning displayed together clustered in a group or easily enough can be separated out and given as individual gifts or maybe as wedding favours.
Each set comes in a elegant white gift box.
Due to the handmade nature of my pieces yours may not look exactly the same as those pictured but will be made in exactly the same process and will be just as pretty.
