A petit satchel bag in a plum pink yarn, with applique flowers on both sides, wooden beads, vintage style buttons and a long cord handle.

I crocheted this satchel in my little studio at home, using a cotton mix yarn in rich plum. I have embellished the bag with olive green and calico coloured crochet flower motifs; which have been finished with wooden beads and crocheted centres. There are two motifs to the front and one on the reverse.

The bag measures 5 3/4" (14.5 cms), by 4 3/4" (11.5 cms).

A plum coloured cord handle is attached to the main body of the satchel with crocheted metal rings. It measures approx 43" (109 cms),in length and has a round wooden bead at each end.

To secure the bag, I have added two vintage looking stripey plum buttons and two crocheted fastening loops.

The inside opening flap of the bag has been lined with pink felt and handstitched to the bag.

I was thinking how nice it would be to have small satchel bag that would be the perfect size for a mobile phone, a lipstick, purse and keys. We don't always want to carry around a massive bag and this would be very good for a shopping trip, concert or an evening out.

The strap is long enough for the bag to be worn either on one shoulder or across the body.

I designed it with the Art Deco period in mind; as i just love this era. Clothing and accessories were still bespoke and the attention to detail was amazing. I'm inspired by this time as there was a haberdashery shop in every town and village and people spent hours home crafting.

I really hope I have managed to capture the essence of the era in this piece, whilst still making it an up to date accessory.
