Not everyone wants a 'Christmassy' Christmas card. The psalms aren't the most obvious Christmas texts but this one seemed appropriate and thoughtful. Centuries before Christ was born, people were imagining the divine coming to earth. Millenia before the environmental movement, people imagined the earth, sea, animals and plants joining in the singing and joy of it. I illustrated it with a subtle, Mediaeval-style border of my favourite wayside weed, herb robert, and a very small nativity scene.

Psalm 96, 'Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad', a celebration of the natural world in delicate calligraphy with an illuminated border
My original ink drawing is reproduced on cream card and then is individually hand-painted using just pink and leaf-green watercolour, mixed to create soft greys and browns, and gold highlights. The three gold dots at the word 'Lord' are an ancient Celtic device used to honour the name of the Holy Trinity. Cards are A6 (approximately 6x4 inches) and contain the message 'Wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year'. Each card comes with an envelope and protected in a clear poly packet.
