I am a firm campaigner for British, hand crafted goods, and I always try to source gifts and things for my home from fellow crafters! Quirky, handmade things all the way!!
I make my ceramics using hand building techniques, particularly ‘slabbing’ where you roll out clay (kind of like pastry) and then use it to make all sorts of things. There is almost no end to the things which you can create with clay, it is just so versatile. Glazing is always exciting, as you never know what effects will have taken place each time you open the kiln!
I try to make items to suit all budgets, and just LOVE making ceramics. I usually try to make items which are usable as well as nice to look at!

This Trivet is part of my 'Hearty Range' and would be perfect for use with a teapot or saucepans to protect surfaces from heat. It was made in my studio in Bristol, and is my own unique design.
The trivet was made using clay cut-outs of hearts of 2 sizes. These were then laid in a circle, then I used more clay to join the hearts together and make it smooth. The trivet was then fired to 980'C.
After leaving the kiln to cool completely, I unpacked everything and started glazing! The main glaze is a stoneware glaze called 'marcasite', I covered the mat in this glaze and then 'washed back' the top, leaving the natural white-ish colour of the clay showing. Finally I hand painted various hearts using red, blue, green and yellow gloss glazes. The trivet was then fired again, this time to a whopping 1220'C
Size -17cm wide. The underside has been covered in black felt to protect any delicate surfaces.
I use recycled packaging where I can, and post as promptly as possible.
There are many more items in the 'Hearty Range', including coasters and cookware. Please look at my shop to see some more!
