In these difficult times, I continue to work from home. I am only selling items which can be posted via the Post Box which is just outside my gate. I have a stock of stamps and packaging materials and, therefore, can stay open for business without imposing extra risk on other individuals. As usual, vintage linens and fabrics, re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories, may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
The cornflower blue contrasts with the hand-felted, meadow background of this embroidered brooch.
The flowers are embroidered in a variety of cotton threads. A combination of simple stitiches are used with distant cornflowers, daisies and other meadow flowers being suggested by small French knots. Naturally died silk and mohair fibres are combined with merino wool, in the felt which forms the background to this brooch.
The brooch is stiffened with plastic cut from a recycled bottle. The design is framed by couching over a slubbed yarn of blue and greens.
The back of the brooch is neatened with felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Height - 5.5 cm approx.
