Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Ceramic Plate discovered
Middlesbrough
July 2026
Handcrafted into
Earrings August 2026
I love collecting ceramic, discarded, lost, damaged or just not wanted anymore. Mud-larking rivers and beaches, rummaging around recycling centres and charity shops. Keeping an eye out of any little piece, found by chance just because I happened to be there, a moment in time.
I bought a lovely but damaged Alfred Meakin plate in Middlesbrough, chipped and destined to be thrown away. I like to clip the ceramic and allow the shapes to naturally form. Due to the original damage the plate broke into cracked shards.
These earrings, irregular in shape are made from one of those shattered pieces. Hand sanded and smoothed to create a unique pair of earrings.
The idea is to create something new from old and use recycled materials to produce unique jewellery. The finished piece isn't meant to be perfect but instead retain part of the original character, including marks and scratches, all part of the history of the ceramic and materials used.
Each earring approximately 16mm x 10 mm x 2mm.
Full drop is approximately 26mm.
Hanging on recycled 925 Sterling Silver Hooks.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio and gift bag.
