Morzine, French Alps, Linocut 20x20cm
This is not an exact depiction of the place, rather it is how it appears in my mind when I hear its name. Me and my family were going there for over 25 years for skiing in winter and hiking in summer and love the area which we, by now, know intimately.
I enjoy running down the picture to primary elements of form and colour, I like it sharp and bold almost on the verge of abstraction. The inspiration here again are woodcuts of Edward Wadsworth and I hope one day I will manage to get closer to his strong geometry blurring the line between figurative and abstract.
The print is sold unframed but mounted on passepartout to fit standard square or vertical frame.
