Full description
The rhythm of the daily journey. Hand-pressed in the Dan Thorne Studio.
Commute is an intimate, 100mm x 100mm original linocut print that explores the "in-between" moments of our lives. Part of a triptych accepted into the Mini Print Cymru Wales exhibition (2025–2026), this piece captures the transition between our private selves and our working lives.
The Artist's Vision
Whether walking miles through industrial valleys in the 19th century or navigating the digital shift today, the commute remains a defining human threshold. This print honours that daily crossing—the moment of departure, the mental preparation for the day ahead, and the journey that bridges the space between home and labour.
The Mini Print Series
Commute is the second in a series of three small-format prints (Home, Commute, and Work). Together, these works tell the story of the rhythms of working life, revealing that while technology changes, the fundamental human experience of transitioning through our days remains constant.
