Full description
This enigmatic moon gazing hare artwork depicts the legend of the moon-gazing hare, silhouetted in glossy fused glass.
Hares have a long history as a sacred animal and are associated with new beginnings, regrowth and good fortune. The "moon-gazing hare" came about from the historical belief of hares being captivated by the moon which if you witnessed would bring abundance and good fortune.
The sultry blue and plum coloured glass background brings this picture an ethereal quality and a completely unique image as the pattern in the glass is never repeated.
This tile has been in my kiln two times, first to fuse a clear glass tile on top of the blue and plum coloured glass tile to give depth to the picture. I then designed and created the image of the hare, moon and flora on the background glass tile before fusing and cooling in my kiln for another period of c.24 hours. It's mounted in a decorative black wire frame which adds to it's charm and is free-standing so can be displayed on a shelf, windowsill or dresser in any room of the home.
The fused glass tile alone measures c.12cm square and the frame measures c.17.5cm square and 7cm deep.
Please be aware that due to variations in screen displays, the colours may appear slightly different in person to the photos you see on your screen.
