Full description
Some pieces arrive almost finished. You just have to see what they want to become.
This one started with a vintage beach towel - the kind that sat folded in someone's airing cupboard for forty years, waiting. Thick looped terry in red, periwinkle blue and yellow, in the bold colour-block style that only the 1970s and 80s could produce without apology. The kind of towel that makes you smile the moment you spot it on a charity shop shelf.
The quilted jacket came separately. Pale butter yellow, soft diamond quilting, quiet and refined - everything the towel is not. I held them next to each other and understood immediately. Noise and calm. Holiday and home. They were always meant to share a seam.
The quilted fabric became the front pocket - a panel that lifts open, just right for a lip balm, a card, or a hair pin - finished with a small hand-embroidered bow, because every practical thing deserves one small gesture of beauty.
The two side handles are the jacket's fabric too, rolled and stitched - just wide enough to hook over a hook, loop through a bag handle, or grip with two fingers when you're running for the train.
This bag was inspired by the simple idea that the things we carry every day should make us happy. Not just useful. Not just sustainable. Actually, genuinely happy - in the way that a retro beach towel and a pale yellow quilted jacket, against all odds, somehow do.
