This pen has been crafted using the slimline pen kit, a 7.62x39 inert rifle cartridge and part of a wooden AK47 stock that has been lathed here in my studio in Scotland.
This is the very unique pen with some crimp markings on the bullet and small smudge on side of the bullet case.
Just after the second world war a Russian sergeant by the name of Mikhail Kalashnikov designed what is deemed by engineers and gunsmiths as the finest assault rifle that has ever been made. The AK47. This rifle was chambered 7.62x39, an intermediate round that bridged the gap between heavy rifles and submachine guns. A new class of automatic weapon for a new world.
These inert 7.62x39 catridges that I have drilled are made in Czech by the company STV GROUP as. These markings can be seen stamped on some of the cases. I have indicated such rounds, as these are highly sought after.
The stock was purchased in the UK by DWSUK and is a Polish Military AK47 rear wooden stock. Item No. POLAKSTKU. The hollow military grade stock with a metal trap door base plate offered many logistical questions on how to cut and remove as much wood as possible to be lathed later.
With kit, case, drilled bullet and lathed wood the pen is assembled. The black ink fefill can be changed easily and replacement ink refills
