This artwork is inspired by the ravens that are infrequent visitors to us here in East Yorkshire but that I've so loved seeing in Scotland. The ravens seem to embody something ancient and wild...
I've paired my raven here with rowan berries - that they love to eat - and that have their own sacred magical properties of protection.
My raven symbolises stillness and the wisdom of the watching and the waiting.

The raven has a presence that feels almost ancient. Dark, intelligent, and deeply watchful - a bird that carries a quiet weight of story and meaning.
This illustration focuses on that stillness - the subtle layering of black feathers, the shifting tones in the light, and the sense of awareness in the bird's posture.
Drawn by hand in pen and coloured pencil, this piece builds depth slowly - much like the bird itself reveals her character over time.
