I enjoy exploring origami tessellations, intricate repeating geometric patterns, and when I discovered the hydrangea tessellation I really liked the combination of geometric and figurative origami. This design uses a fractal tessellation, a repeating pattern that gets smaller and smaller towards the centre but it doesn't just look geometric, it also resembles the beautiful repeating petals of a hydrangea flower.

Full description
A hand-folded origami artwork with a distinctly different mood created by the deep navy pattern on a black background, precise and quietly striking.
Where some paper art leans soft and decorative, this piece has weight to it. The dark tones let the geometry do the talking; the crisp folds and layered structure become the focus, rather than colour or florals. Up close, the pattern in the paper adds a subtle richness that only reveals itself as the light shifts.
Folded by hand from a single sheet of navy patterned paper, with each crease placed deliberately. The finished piece sits slightly forward from its black backing, giving it dimension without drama.
Presented in a 12cm square white box frame - the white border acts as a clean break between the darkness of the piece and the wall behind it, and works surprisingly well.

A stronger, more architectural feel than most paper art; suits a modern interior, a home office, or anyone who prefers their handmade things on the quieter, darker side.
