I enjoy exploring origami tessellations, intricate repeating geometric patterns, and when I discovered the hydrangea tessellation I really liked the combination of geometric and figurative origami. This design uses a fractal tessellation, a repeating pattern that gets smaller and smaller towards the centre but it doesn't just look geometric, it also resembles the beautiful repeating petals of a hydrangea flower.

Full description
A compact piece of hand-folded origami tessellation in a 12cm square frame.
Folded by hand from a single square of patterned paper, the layered folds build up gentle texture and quiet detail, and the finished piece sits slightly proud of its backing, giving it a subtle three-dimensional quality that shifts softly with the light.
Small doesn't mean quick. Each piece takes around 20–30 minutes to fold, with close attention paid throughout. That unhurried process shows in the result; nothing here is rushed or repeated mechanically.
The artwork comes ready to display in a 12cm square white box frame, with a complementary coloured backing chosen to let the paper speak for itself. Pop it on a shelf, a desk, or a bedside table straight out of the box.
At a glance:
- Hand-folded origami artwork
