This piece began with the fabric — a scatter of tiny flowers and leaves that felt like a celebration of colour and movement. It reminded me of a garden border in full summer, full of small details you only notice when you pause and look closely. Adding a little embroidered flourish felt like the right way to echo that sense of discovery and handmade care.
Pairing this lively print with the calming scent of lavender and hops created a lovely balance: a bright, happy outer world wrapped around a quiet, soothing centre. It’s a small reminder that rest and joy can sit side by side.
This design is also part of my zero‑waste making practice. The inner pouch is sewn from soft, tough cotton salvaged from an old judo gi, giving new life to a material that still had plenty of strength and purpose left in it.
Safety information

People with respiratory conditions can also be sensitive to strong fragrances, so it is important to use the pillow with care and discontinue use if the scent feels overwhelming or uncomfortable. Lavender and hop pillows can leave a gentle scent on bedding. This is normal for natural botanicals. Hops also contain a fine yellow pollen that may stain the inner pouch over time. The inner bag is enclosed within the outer pillow to help protect bedding and to keep the botanical mix contained. The pillow is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of young children and pets. The outer fabric is not waterproof.

This lavender and hop sleep aid bag is made with a bright, cheerful ditsy abstract print — tiny flowers, leaves and colour splashes dancing across the fabric in a lively, uplifting pattern. At the front top edge, I’ve added a small machine embroidered detail for a touch of texture and handmade charm. It’s a gentle, joyful little pillow designed to bring a moment of calm to your evening routine.
Inside is an inner pouch packed full of dried lavender and hops harvested from my garden this summer. This traditional botanical mix has been used for centuries to encourage relaxation and ease the mind before sleep. Place the bag beside or under your pillow to enjoy the soft, sleepy scent as you drift off. While it isn’t a guaranteed sleep remedy, I’ve found the fragrance comforting and it has helped soften my own insomnia.
Hops naturally contain a yellow pollen that may stain the inner pouch, which is why each one is enclosed inside an outer fabric bag — protecting your bedding and giving me the chance to use some wonderfully characterful fabrics. Please note that the fabric is not waterproof.
