Poppies at dusk - textile art picture from upcycled fabric scraps and embellished with hand embroidery.
Hand painted dark sky to represent the darkening skies seen at dusk. Green silky fabric for the background hills heavily embroidered using French knots to represent trees and bushes on the skyline. A piece of needlecord makes a lovely ploughed field. Hand stitched grass stems with French knots on a background of green net and pieces of green silk along the bottom represent the field edge. Red chiffon poppies with black french knots at the centres provide a splash of colour.
Inspired by walks through the fields where scattered poppies grow through grasses at the edges.
Placed onto dark blue reclaimed linen and framed in a white box frame without glass enabling the full textures to be appreciated.
Framed the picture measures 17 x 17 cm.
