This little scene began with a moment of quiet focus. There’s something wonderfully uplifting about these four little mice — each one hurrying along with a balloon, as if caught in a tiny parade of their own making. Painting them on NOT paper lets the colours settle softly, giving the balloons a gentle glow and the mice a sense of movement and lightness. This listing is for a lively hand painted illustration featuring four Penny Black mice hurrying along, each one clutching a brightly coloured balloon. Painted by hand on 140 lb NOT (Cold Pressed) watercolour paper, this piece measures 10.5 x 14.6 cm and is full of soft colour, delicate shading, and expressive detail.
Each mouse has its own personality; tiny paws lifted mid scurry, tails trailing behind, balloons bobbing above them in cheerful colours. The textured NOT surface gives the watercolour a gentle softness, allowing the colours to glow and the movement to feel light and playful.
