These little scenes begin with a moment of stillness. I sit with the soft Penny Black outlines — the mice drifting in their nutshell boats, the brave little mouse reaching up to hang a star, the fox pausing to admire a butterfly — and let the brush guide me. Painting them helps me slow down and settle into a calmer rhythm, and each postcard becomes its own tiny story. There’s something soothing about bringing these gentle characters to life, and I hope they carry that same sense of warmth and quiet magic to whoever receives them.

This listing is for a whimsical trio of hand painted postcard blanks featuring three different Penny Black illustrations, each one stamped with original rubber stamps and brought to life with soft, expressive watercolour.
This set includes:
1. Mice drifting in nutshell boats, floating peacefully along as if carried by a gentle breeze.
2. A mouse hanging a star from the Moon, a tiny moment of magic and quiet bravery.
3. A fox admiring a blue butterfly, a tender woodland pause full of curiosity and calm.
Each postcard is individually painted, making every piece a tiny original artwork. The watercolour adds warmth, delicate shading, and a sense of storybook charm, while the crisp stamped outlines keep the characters instantly recognisable. The cards are left blank on the reverse, ready for handwritten notes, journalling, display, or gifting.
Printed postcards can be lovely; but these are something more: small, hand painted scenes that feel personal, gentle, and full of heart.
Watercolour paper is 90 lb NOT surface.
