This butterfly was inspired by the clear blue skies of midsummer and the way wings seem to shimmer when they catch the light. I wanted to create something that felt uplifting and full of movement, a small reminder of warm days and open windows. The cobalt glass was chosen for its depth and clarity, while the lighter blue body adds softness and balance.
The making process was slow and intentional, allowing the shape to unfold through careful cutting and gentle soldering. The finished piece carries that sense of lightness and calm, offering a moment of brightness wherever it hangs
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.

Full description
This listing is for one stained glass butterfly made with transparent cobalt blue wings and a soft opaque light blue body. When sunlight passes through the wings, the colour becomes brilliantly bright, creating a dazzling display that brings a little summer glow into any room. It also makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves nature, colour, or handcrafted art.
The butterfly measures approximately 16 centimetres in height and around 16.5 centimetres in width, including the hanging hook. One hook is attached on the reverse, and although the piece hangs from a single point, it is best secured to two stable fixings to keep it steady.
The butterfly can be displayed outdoors in fair weather, but it is not advisable to leave it outside in rain, frost, or overnight. Like all stained glass, it will last longest when treated with care.
Each element is hand cut and crafted using the traditional Tiffany copper foil method. Every piece of glass is wrapped, soldered, cleaned, and polished by hand. Craft glass naturally carries tiny variations and characterful textures, which means every butterfly is completely unique. The photographs were taken in natural light to show the colours as faithfully as possible.
Please ensure that you place (and secure) your glass in a safe location; if the piece falls it is likely to break. The item is not a toy.
