These dragonflies were inspired by the way real wings tilt and shimmer as they move through the air. The idea of reflexing the wings came from wanting to capture that moment of lift — the instant a dragonfly pauses before darting away. Creating a three‑dimensional form allows the glass to catch the light from different angles, giving the piece a sense of life and motion.
Choosing the glass is a joyful part of the process. Streaks, swirls and translucent patches create a natural shimmer that feels almost like sunlight on water. The Tiffany method brings a slow, steady rhythm to the making: cutting each wing, foiling the edges, and soldering the pieces into a shape that stands away from the body. Seeing the finished dragonfly glow in the sun — whether outdoors on a calm day or in a bright window — is a reminder of how handmade pieces can bring a moment of colour and quiet magic into everyday spaces.
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Full description
This listing is for one stained glass dragonfly with reflexed wings that create a more three dimensional shape. The lifted wings give the piece a sense of motion, making it a striking decoration for a bright window or a calm summer day in the garden.
The finished dragonfly measures approximately 19 cm high by 23 cm wide, including the single hanging hook. For outdoor use, it is recommended that you secure it at two points to keep it steady in the breeze.
Each dragonfly is made using the traditional Tiffany foiled glass method. Every section of glass is hand cut, edged with copper foil, soldered and cleaned, and sometimes finished with patina. Craft glass naturally contains tiny textures and variations, making every dragonfly unique. The colours shown in the photographs are as accurate as possible.
These dragonflies look wonderful hanging from a tree on dry, sunny, wind free days, but they should be brought indoors at night and during poor weather to prevent damage. Indoors, they make a beautiful window decoration where the wings can catch the light safely. This item is not a toy and should be placed securely, as a fall is likely to cause breakage.
Price is for the glass item only.
Postage cost is for 48-hour, tracked second class medium parcel. Due to their shape I have had to charge for a medium, rather than small parcel - any postage costs in excess of postage will be returned.
