The inspiration for this design comes from the velvety texture of real iris petals and the way their surfaces shift between matte softness and subtle sheen. The Oceanside Spirit glass echoes this quality through its layered colour and gentle opacity, while the wispy pale pink glass introduces a lighter, more translucent element that still feels soft rather than glossy. The gold Van Gogh beard adds a contrasting highlight, similar to the way the beard of a real iris catches the light. The intention is a carefully made piece that reflects both the structure and tactile character of the flower, allowing the qualities of the glass to suggest the softness of the petals without imitating them directly.
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.

Full description
A hand crafted stained glass iris made from Oceanside Spirit glass for the main petals, where pink, purple and white tones run through the glass in soft, irregular patterns. The secondary petals are made from translucent wispy pale pink glass, chosen for the way it diffuses light and creates a gentle contrast with the stronger colours of the main petals. A small section of gold Van Gogh glass forms the beard, adding a concentrated area of texture and reflective depth. This is a Rowan Handmade original design.
The piece has two hanging loops on the reverse, and securing both is recommended for stability when displayed in a window. The iris measures approximately 17 cm in height and 11 cm in width. Other colour variations are shown in the final photograph and in separate listings.
Each iris is cut and shaped by hand using the traditional Tiffany foiled glass method. Every piece of glass is edged with copper foil, soldered and cleaned. Craft glass naturally contains small variations and character marks which make every iris unique, and the colours shown in the photographs have been captured as accurately as possible.
Please ensure that you place (and secure) your glass in a safe location; if the piece falls it is likely to break. The item is not a toy.
