This iris was inspired by the way sunlight moves through flower petals—how golds, yellows, and soft translucent tones seem to hold warmth even on cooler days. Irises have long been symbols of hope, wisdom, and transition, and I wanted to capture that sense of gentle strength in glass.
The combination of iridescent and wispy glass mirrors the layered texture of real petals, while the Van Gogh glass adds a spark of brightness at the centre. It’s a piece made to bring a moment of stillness and beauty into a window, studio, or favourite corner of the home.
Safety information
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.

Full description
A single stained glass iris, crafted in rich golden tones that shift gently in the light. The main petals are cut from a deep, semi opaque iridescent glass that glows with warm golds and subtle rainbow flashes. The secondary petals are made from pale yellow wispy glass, adding softness and movement. A small piece of gold Van Gogh glass forms the beard, catching the light with a textured shimmer. This is a Rowan Handmade original design.
The finished piece measures approximately 17cm tall by 11cm wide. Two discreet hanging loops are soldered to the reverse, and it is recommended that the iris is hung using both for secure display.
Each element is hand cut and shaped using the traditional Tiffany copper foil method. Every piece of glass is wrapped, soldered, cleaned, and polished by hand. Craft glass naturally carries tiny variations, swirls, and textures, making every iris completely unique. Photographs are taken in natural light to show the colours as faithfully as possible.
