Full description
An original free motion embroidery of the Town Bridge at Bradford-on-Avon on pale blue linen fabric in a 8.5 inch wood effect flexi hoop with hanger. Detailed townscape, built up with layers of thread on a basic sewing machine. The embroidery is stitched by eye and does not use a computerised process. The hoop is backed with 100% wool felt, embroidered with my name. PLEASE NOTE THIS SCENE WAS EMBROIDERED IN 2019, UNDER MY MAIDEN NAME.
Inspired by the nearby town of Bradford on Avon - one of my favourite places to visit. I have taken many photos there to use for reference. I particularly enjoy embroidering reflections and have embroidered several local bridges.
Free motion embroidery is created by dropping the feed dogs (metal teeth) on my sewing machine and using a darning foot, to allow me to stitch in any direction. It is rather like oil painting; building up layers of colour, if I were to move the paper instead of the brush. It is often known as thread painting.
