I loved the way the bold blue of the pattern contrasts with the soft, velvety texture of the roses and peonies.
Using a mix of watercolor and fine ink work, I layered pale pinks, corals, and creams to give the flowers a sense of life and fullness. I even included a few fallen petals on the table to suggest that the bouquet was just gathered and brought inside.
I chose to frame this original in a whitewashed, rustic wood. The distressed finish of the frame gives the artwork a relaxed, 'shabby chic' feel, making it feel less like a formal painting and more like a warm, personal memory. It’s designed to be a little window of summer that you can keep on your wall all year round."
