This piece was inspired by the quiet ritual of a slow afternoon. There is something so quintessentially British about a 'proper' cup of tea served in a favorite cup, especially when the garden is in full bloom.
I have always been drawn to the timeless look of blue and white striped china. Its crisp, clean lines provided the perfect contrast to the soft, organic shapes of the roses gathered from a dream summer garden. I chose a palette of warm peaches, soft pinks, and creams for the flowers to create a feeling of warmth and sun-drenched tranquility.
In this painting, I wanted to capture the fleeting beauty of a fresh bouquet. While real roses eventually fade, these are captured 'forever' in watercolor, set against a soft, atmospheric background that evokes the feeling of a misty morning.
I’ve framed this original in a distressed, whitewashed wood to give it that 'found' feel—as if it has always belonged in a cozy cottage kitchen or a sunny breakfast nook.
