My inspiration was my garden, and my own hens. I have chosen plants with interesting foliage, because my garden has numerous trees, which bring shade. To ensure year-round colour and to bring light to my garden, I have chosen several varigated plants and shrubs. These plants have contributed to several of my SprigArt creations. I love flowers, and have plenty of those too, but the aspect of my garden led me to investigate and, grow to love, leaves, grasses and ferns. I hope my pictures inspire people to look a little closer to the leaves they encounter and create their own little characters.

Full description
This creation is one of my favourites. I grow a lovely plant, in my garden, called Fatsia 'Spider's Web'. Its' beautiful leaves are exactly as the name suggests, they have a pale, creamy lime background with very spidery web-like patterns on the leaves. To me, they also looked like feathers. Also, the leaves have a very feather-like outline. My beautiful hen is created from these leaves, with her red comb and wattle being created with Salvia 'Royal Bumble' petals. 'Karl Foerster', a feathered Reed grass, formed her tail. I used another grass - 'Totnes Burgandy' for her legs and feet. Her little chicks were created from a varigated laurel.
This piece began life as a physical collage. These images take me hours to create. I do not use photoshop or AI. It is hours of painstaking editing, using my laptop and mouse to bring the image up to the freshness of the original collage.
This picture is an A4 size, mounted image, in an A3 white frame.
