My story is that, before and during covid, my husband became ill, and our garden became a huge source of enjoyment and comfort. I noticed that, although on the same plant, nature shaped each leaf in a slightly different way. These variations, sometimes suggested little creatures to me, and my first foray into my collage based art, were little characters that I created to make my husband laugh. I combined those into a little children's book. After that, I made others and, this handsome fellow, is one of them.

Full description

This item is a mixed media piece and involves zero input from AI.

I began creating these pieces in 2019 and my work begins life as a physical collage of leaves, stems, grasses and petals. I absolutely love gardening and, due to the shady aspect of my garden, a wide variety of foliage makes up for the lack of flowers in my garden. I began to look at the leaves and wondered if I could use them to create images. I tried it, and after several attempts, came up with a process. I photograph the completed collage and upload it to GIMP (GNU imaging program), where I, painstakingly, endeavor to produce an image that replicates the vibrancy and freshness of the original collage.

This picture uses leaves from Persicaria, Jasmine, Buddleia and Cotinus. The framed picture is 27.5cm x 28.5cm.
