Full description
Sycamore seeds are designed to float through the air as they fall. The notion of floating is my inspiration for this patterned piece. The seeds were exposed in layers to create some which are out of focus to give the impression of distance.
Cyanotypes are one of a kind prints as they are created by exposing light sensitive coated paper to sunlight - each print is affected not only by the composition of botanicals but also by the sunlight conditions.
This cyanotype is bleached and dyed in a green tea solution to produce the soft brown hues that compliment neutral decor. Again, like the process of creating a cyanotype, the process of dying a cyanotype is completed fully by hand and so tones and colours vary. The slight unpredictability of the technique adds to its appeal to me as each print is truly original.
This 6” x 6” cyanotype is printed on 9” x 9” on 300gsm Snowdon paper and whilst in a frame is shown with a mount. It can be purchased with or without a frame.
