The glaze on this piece came out quite unexpectedly! I used a new glaze, which I had imagined to be a dark, glossy brown, but it came out of the kiln with this beautiful, almost metallic, finish. And as I took it out, I thought it looked just like a vintage jug I would find holding dried flowers or feathers in my Grandma's kitchen.

Full description
This little jug was hand built with stoneware clay, glazed with a food safe glaze, and kiln fired. The interesting texture was created by hand, using a wooden tool to make lots of small marks in the clay, and the combination of glazes leaves the piece with an almost metallic finish.
As it came out of the kiln I thought it looked like a vintage jug I might find holding dried flowers or feathers in my Grandma's kitchen.
The jug was created as a decorative item or vase, which is why it is so petite, however it would also work beautifully for watering little potted plants or as a milk jug.
Each piece of pottery is completely unique and may have some lumps or bumps ! There is a crack on the inside of the jug, which occurred during the first firing. This was filled completely with glaze, creating a fully waterproof finished piece. The crack is only a cosmetic fault, and cannot be seen from the outside. This has been taken into account in the price of the jug :)
