I had some Thistles come up in my driveway, and whereas most people would think if them as weeds, I was drawn to paint them.
I'm so glad I did because not long after, my neighbour pulled it out. I also got Highly Commended for this painting in the Fox Art Open held in the Channel Islands.

Full description
This original mixed media painting features delicate thistles and grasses inspired by the quiet beauty of the natural landscape. Painted in acrylic on canvas and layered with paper collage, fabric applique, hand stitching and bead embroidery, the artwork has rich texture and depth that invites closer inspection. Pale minty blues suggest an early frost, while soft yellow ochre and off white tones hint at sunlight breaking through, creating a calm and atmospheric mood. Grassy seed heads are brought to life with subtle bead embroidery, alongside purple thistle flowers and a range of green tones in the leaves and background.
The painting measures 40cm by 40cm and is 35mm deep, with the edges painted so it can be hung without a frame if desired. It comes ready to hang with a wire fitted on the back, as shown in the photos. The artwork is signed with my initials and is a one of a kind piece.
