For complete novices, this class introduces you to the skill of machine sewing without the need to buy a sewing machine yourself.
Equipment and materials provided. All you need to bring are your specs if you use them.
We start with some simple sewing exercises, learning the basics such as how to keep an even distance from the raw edges, how to turn a sharp corner on your stitching line, and how to start and finish properly to stop all your hard work coming undone.
You’ll then be given some gorgeous fabric, pre-cut to my own pattern, and together we will make a fabric shopping bag with two straps. You’ll be guided through the process step by step, and should go home with your new bag on your shoulder and a real sense of pride in what you’ve achieved.
Children aged 12 – 18 are welcome to take this class, as long as they come with a participating adult. Their guardian is expected to take responsibility for them and their safety.
