This jacket was made as part of my thrifty, low waste handmade practice. The main fabric was found in a charity shop, carefully chosen for its colour and woven texture. The lining came from new offcuts saved from previous projects, and the button was selected from a small rescued box of mixed buttons.
There was not enough fabric to add pockets, so the design was kept deliberately simple and practical, making the most of what was available. Nothing wasted, nothing over complicated, just thoughtful making and honest materials.
This piece is from my handmade retirement collection and reflects my love of reuse, simplicity.

Handmade Blue and White Check Woven Jacket, One of a Kind, Size 12 to 14
This is a new handmade jacket, using a soft woven polyester fabric in a fresh blue and white geometric check. It is fully lined in smooth blue polyester which has been carefully sewn in by hand for a neat, well made result.
The design is intentionally simple and unfussy. It fastens with a single popper at the neckline and comes with a matching belt, which can also be worn loosely as a scarf.
The belt is neatly joined at the centre and finished with zigzag stitching for strength and character.
There are no pockets, allowing the fabric pattern and shape to take centre stage. The jacket can be worn open for an easy relaxed look, or belted at the waist to add shape. The sleeves are generously cut, making it ideal for layering over jumpers in cooler weather.
A cosy, practical and elegant piece with a clean silhouette and a modern feel.
