Are Cultured Freshwater Pearls Real?
Yes they are very real
They are still created by the molluscs natural defence mechanism, the only difference is that humans introduced the irritant into the mollusc allowing the process required to create a pearl to begin, with a Natural Freshwater Pearl an irritant would enter the mollusc of its own accord and the pearl would form from that or through an attack from the outside, injuring the mantle tissue.
