I was inspired by the mysterious atmosphere of Edinburgh’s old alleys. I used the natural cracks in the wood to match the ancient stone walls of the city. My goal was to show the contrast between the cold, dark shadows and the warm light of history.

Full description
This painting shows a famous narrow passage in Edinburgh called Lady Stair's Close. It is painted on a cracked, rustic piece of wood that looks like old stone. The dark blue arch creates a "window" looking into a warm, glowing street with a classic lantern.
Handpainted, acrylics used. Unframed.
Signed.
