I have always been inspired by the world around me and have always held a deep fascination with photography and the ability to draw with light. Within this work I wanted to celebrate the beauty of nature and capture how we use the beauty of nature to enhance the environment we live in.

Full description
An original cyanotype illustrating how we use nature to enhance our lives and our homes. This print contrasts the natural shapes and forms of a selection of flowers, highlighting their beauty by contrasting printed forms with a pressed flower. The elegant display stands on a piece of Granny’s lace reminding us that flowers have had an everlasting appeal.
Cyanotypes are one of a kind prints as they are created by exposing light sensitive coated paper to sunlight - each print is affected not only by the composition of botanicals but also by the sunlight conditions.
This cyanotype is bleached and dyed in a green tea solution to produce the soft brown hues that compliment neutral decor. Again, like the process of creating a cyanotype, the process of dying a cyanotype is completed fully by hand and so tones and colours vary. The slight unpredictability of the technique adds to its appeal to me as each print is truly original.
Printed on 300gsm Snowdon paper, this 5” x 7” cyanotype can be purchased with or without a frame. This cyanotype print features a hand-painted border.
