In 2018 I became a mum for the first time. Having a new baby, having to sit and feed a lot, I found my mind needing an outlet, and having one hand free, I could write and paint- so this book was born! Exploring locations on long walks with my daughter, attached in her papousse, I would tell her tales of where she was growing up. After quickly running out of common folklore I decided to invent some new of my own, playing on the quirky names of places in Cornwall that we came across. My children have loved searching for the strange creatures shown in colourful illustrations featured in this book, and I hope yours do too! It’s hard to give an accurate age group for this book as all children enjoy and understand such different things, but it’s been fun to see my now 7 year old taking different things from this book now, than she did being read to age 3 or 4, where she was mainly interested in the illustrations.
