A tribute to flowers and history.
This artwork is named after Marie-Antoinette, and there is a very interesting reason why. Did you know that when the Queen was trying to escape during the French Revolution, she was caught because of her perfume? She loved the smell of flowers (especially roses and jasmines) so much that the strong scent gave away her identity to the soldiers. This piece is a tribute to that passion for flowers and the elegance of the past.
I used dried daylily petals that I collected in Finland. I carefully placed them on Finnish birch wood. To make the piece shine like a royal treasure, I added gold leaf. I lift the wood, creating shadows and depth.
Size: 27x27x6 cm (Deep box frame).
Materials: Daylily petals, Finnish birch, gold leaf, freshwater pearls and amber.
Natural Evolution: This is a living piece. Because I use real flowers and organic materials, the colors will change a little bit over time. This is normal and beautiful. Please do not hang it in a humid place.
