Pottery colander berry bowl wheel thrown and glazed in forest green.
This bowl is 6.6 inches (17 cm) in diameter and 4.1 inches (10.5 cm) in height.
This berry bowl colander was handmade from white Devonshire stoneware clay. It's ideal for washing fruits in and the light blue glaze colour would contrast well with the bright reds of strawberries in summer. The piece was turned and finished when leather hard, each of the holes being cut and finished individually by hand. The holes have been cut into a burst line pattern inside the base of the bowl. You can still see soft throwing rings where my hands have drawn the pot upwards and a green glaze decorates the inside and outside. This bowl also features lug handles attached to the side of the piece to give good purchase when handling the bowl when wet. This piece can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
