Full description
I painted this candleholder thinking of rough contrast of naked trees against darkening sky and I added a winter twist. It turned out really well- the white of frosted trees and falling snow really popping against post-sunset coloured background. Out of the pair of similar looking candle holders, this one looks better when unlit.
I made this lantern on jar with top cut off and sanded down to the best of my ability. The very bottom strip is painted opaque white to simulate snow covered ground. Above that the is a small row of pearl white naked trees, Most of the tea light holder is vast open sky in gradual orange on the bottom through red and violet to navy blue, spotted with pearl while dots of snowfall. Whole project is covered by transparent layer of varnish.
This lantern would make a great wintery addition to a home décor. It casts fantastic lights and shadows when lit, perfect for long winter evenings with a cup of warm tea and good book. It would also make great Christmas gift or gift for any other occasion.
