This piece is one in a series inspired by a song. In ‘It’s in your heart now’, Dan Bejar quavers the thought that threatens to undermine daily pretences: you want to go home, somehow. For an unexpected immigrant, home is elusive. The quiet longing of the song freed me to draw the unapologetic heart.

Full description
I made this A4 mixed media piece by coating a sheet of watercolour paper with cyanotype chemistry and using a pencil drawing on tracing paper as a photographic negative. After exposing the plate on the watercolour paper to the sun for a few minutes, I washed the sheet in a diluted vinegar bath to intensify the blues and render it slightly greenish, and then washed it in water for ten minutes. After drying, I applied soft pastel and wax pastel as well as embroidery.
I will ship the piece carefully protected with hard backing and wrapped in tissue paper. I may use recycled packaging.
