I was looking for a Bohemian Gypsy style bag for an evening do to go with my hippie outfit but nothing I found really worked,.. So, having all the elements here to make my own (fabric scraps, old jewelry, lace trims etc), I decided to make my own. Whilst quite time consuming I was so pleased with the results and the compliments I received that I decided to make a few more.
Safety information
To clean, I'd simply suggest to just wipe it over gently with a damp cloth or an alcohol free baby/makeup wipe...as due to the mish-mash of fabrics and colours (often of unknown origins) some of the darker fabrics may not be completely colour fast if it were washed. This gorgeous bag has lots of vintage, often delicate components.. please treat with care...Any imperfections are simply a part of it's majestic charm.

A beautiful handcrafted Bohemian Gypsy Hippie Festival Bag.
A personal fav, created and upcycled from a variety of fabric scraps/offcuts, (sari silks, velvets, satins and lace) then adorned with beads, jewelry and lots of bohemian charms & trinkets.
Crazy patchwork style with golden & purple silk threads.
There is a limited edition run of 4 of these, and whilst all have a purple and teal theme they are all slightly different. There’s beads, jewels, tassels, lace, braid and trims, dream catchers, crystals, butterflies and cats. Oh, and there’s also a tiny little secret strawberry locket pot...for keeping those teeny tiny things in. ;)
Lined inside with a gorgeous soft ochre cotton sateen and my 'Catkins-Boho-Tique' label.
The reverse is made from a gorgeous coordinating purple velvet fabric.
A flower shaped brass magnetic press stud inside helps keep the opening closed.
They’ll make fabulous gifts,..would be ideal as a festival bag, a Tarot card bag, an evening bag,...Or simply a bag to add to that Bohemian Gypsy outfit that has always needed that finishing touch.
Measurements: approx 18cm wide x 23cm long, inc the trim/beading.
It can be worn across the body or over the shoulder. The strap measures approx 25” from shoulder to bag, or around 20” if knotted, i.e. you can adjust the strap length simply by tying a loose knot in it.
