Amethyst is a symbol of love and protection and associated with St Valentine (as well as being the February birthstone).
Its name derives from the Greek word ‘amethystos’, literal translation ‘not intoxicated’! This is linked to the ancient Greek legend where the goddess Diana protected young Amethyst from Bacchus, the god of wine after she rejected his advances. Amethyst is often associated with helping maintain mental clarity and physical energy.

A bracelet of 6mm amethyst rounds, arranged alongside silver plated rings connected together to resemble Mobius rings, finished with a silver plated toggle clasp.
This symbol was named after the German mathematician August Möbius and represents 'the seeming paradox of a plane without end, or one of infinite length', and has become a symbol associated with infinity and unity in the world of jewellery design.
