This workshop is inspired by the traditional straw stars of Scandinavia, where simple, natural materials are transformed into decorations that carry both beauty and meaning. I wanted to share this craft as a way to slow down, embrace mindful making, and celebrate the festive season in a sustainable way.

Join us for a cosy festive workshop where you’ll learn to make your own beautiful straw star decorations – perfect for adorning your home or hanging on the Christmas tree.
Inspired by the timeless tradition and craftsmanship, these elegant ornaments are often found in Scandinavian windows, adding a warm and welcoming glow to the season. As well as being stunning, straw stars are an eco-friendly alternative to plastic decorations, giving you a more sustainable way to celebrate Christmas.
No previous experience is needed – this workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike. I’ll guide you step by step, and all the materials will be provided. You’ll leave with a set of handmade stars and the skills to create many more at home.
Location: Shop Small Pop-up, Churchyard, Hitchin
Date & Time: Saturday 13th December, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Price: £25 per person
