I saved a large number of curtain sample books from landfill - a local business was about to throw them away. Some of the books had gloriously rich fabrics that just begged to be turned into Christmas Stockings.
Each stocking is unique as I only have one sample piece of each fabric - and I have used different combinations of trim, backings and linings to make each extra special.

Full description
Beautiful Bird of Paradise Christmas Stocking in teal blue and gold. Handmade with reclaimed curtain textiles, this Arts and Crafts style stocking has a plumed bird among leaf and flower motifs. Topped with a luxurious cuff in vintage gold velvet and trimmed with braid, this unique stocking will suit both modern and traditional Christmas decor themes.
An elegant design with a narrow ankle and foot, so save your larger gifts for the top of the stocking.
One of a kind - each of my reclaimed textile Christmas Stockings have their own Zero Waste story.
The floral bird fabric is from a salvaged curtain sample book, and is printed onto 100 percent cotton in shades of teal, aqua and blue on a winter white background. I wanted to contrast these cool shades with a rich warm textile, so I used a gold cotton velvet fabric with a glorious sheen for the mock cuff, and offset both fabrics with a vintage braid trim in a more subtle old gold.
The back of the stocking is a lovely check plaid weave from the same sample book, in strong blue and indigo shades with a hint of purple - which looks stunning against the glowing gold cuff.
Interlined with cotton wadding and fully lined with teal quilting cotton, and finished with a navy gosgrain ribbon - all my scrap bag.
Approximate size 44 cm by 30 cm, plus hanging ribbon.
NOTE - the gold velvet is reclaimed from a vintage curtain, the back of the cuff has two lines where the hem was unstitched.
